Central Ohio is likely to see 3-5 inches of snow on Dec. 13, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

A winter weather advisory has been issued. It will be in effect from 1 p.m. Dec. 13 to 7 a.m. Dec. 14. Here's what you need to know.

Are roads closed for the snow?

The Ohio Department of Transportation's OHGO website has real-time updates on road and highway closures, delays, construction and traffic. You can even take a look at an ODOT traffic camera to check out road conditions yourself before you get out there.

Popular navigation apps like Google Maps, Waze and Apple Maps also show road closures and delays, and they will often factor traffic or slowdowns into your ETA.

How to know if your street's been plowed

Columbus' roads are divided into three priority levels, with crews clearing priority 1 roads first.

To check what priority level your street is and see when it was plowed last, visit the city's Warrior Watch website. You can click on your road to see when it was serviced last and use the tab at the top to see what priority level it is.

AEP Ohio offers several ways to check whether there is a power outage in the area.

The company offers an outage map on its website that is available for anyone to view. Customers who provide their login credentials can access more detailed information based on the address for their account.

The Columbus Division of Power, South Central Power, First Energy and Edison Ohio also track outages online.
